South Devon is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that stretches over 130 miles of coastline.

The South Hams district has lots to offer lovers of the outdoors. Walkers can wander the South West Coast Path and explore secluded sandy beaches which can only be reached on foot.

And with rivers, moorland, coasts and the sea, the area offers visitors a range of activities including paddle boarding, walking, kayacking and canoeing.

Stoke Gabriel is a perfect location to explore all that South Hams has to offer. It's just 15 minutes from Totnes with its independent shops, pubs and restaurants, 30 minutes from Dartmouth and less than an hour from Exeter and Salcombe.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, though there is a nominal charge.

Conveniently located at the Stoke Gabriel Quay, Totnes Kayaks have kayaks available for hire from April to October and offer guided trips in open canoes all year round.

Agatha Christie called Greenway 'the loveliest place in the world' and treasured it as a holiday home for her and her family. Greenway is nestled in a woodland garden which drifts down the hill to the banks of the River Dart. The garden is complete with stunning views, colourful borders and grand trees, perfect for exploring. Dogs are welcome at Greenway.

A 1920s country retreat, home of the D'Oyly Carte family, built in the Arts & Crafts style, and is imbued with Art Deco elegance and complete with luxuriant RHS accredited garden by the sea. Dogs (on leads) are welcome in the garden, cafe and shop. Assistance dogs only in the house.

Totnes Rare Breeds Farm website

Totnes Rare Breeds is a family-owned attraction is small enough to provide a friendly and personal service, but with enough to keep visitors happy. Feed and fuss the rare breed sheep and goats; admire the varied breeds of poultry; visit the hedgehog hospital; cuddle the guinea pigs; enjoy the red squirrels' antics; and get up close to the splendid owls! Most enclosures can be entered for close-up stroking, patting and cuddling. A great place for the children of the group. Buggy friendly and dogs are welcome on a lead in the Garden Cafe, but not in the farm itself.
